Tip Toe Through Disaster

Even though my story has nothing to do with balloons or 1986 my story is still pretty horrible. My sophomore year of high school I participated in performing arts and we had to do an act for the gong show. My friends in class weren't very excited given we didn't have any cool ideas or talents, so we sat down and tried to brainstorm ideas. Me, being the idiot that I am. Suggested we do something scary to freak everyone out so I suggested we play this eerie and creepy song called "Tip Toe Through The Tulips" by Tiny Tim.
This song is in a terribly scary horror movie so I automatically thought that everyone would be scared if we played the song and came down through the aisles and scared people. Well, let's just say no one could think of any better ideas so we took my idea and ran.
The night of the gong show we were all so excited because we were for sure our act was going to be spot on.
When it finally came our time to go, the lights went completely off and then the music started to play, I could hear whispers of people saying "what in the world?". I started laughing because I realized this was probably the dumbest idea I've ever come up with. So, I ran right out the back door so that I could laugh and not break down in front of everyone.
If you couldn't have guessed absolutely no one was freaked out in the slightest and everyone was trying to figure out what freaks decided to run down the aisles of a dark auditorium while scary music was playing in the background.
To this day when people ask me if it was my friends and I, I simply deny and act like I don't know what they're talking about. I guess my secret is out ;)
